ChargeAutomation now integrates with 40+ leading smart lock providers, allowing you to automatically manage guest access from booking to checkout—no matter which lock system you use.

With smart lock automation, access codes are created, updated, and revoked based on reservation details, helping you deliver a smoother guest experience while improving security and saving time. Whether you manage a single property or hundreds, ChargeAutomation keeps access control simple, reliable, and fully automated.

Using ChargeAutomation Locks Manager to manage your smartlocks

The Customer Portal is a secure setup experience that lets you connect your property’s access control or smart lock system within Charge Automation.

You’ll use it to:
● Connect your existing lock or access system
● Map devices to rooms or units
● Manage and verify connected devices

Once completed, ChargeAutomation can automatically issue, update, and revoke access for your guests.
Before you start
● You will need your login credentials for your lock or access system.
● You will need to know which lock belongs to which unit, room, or listing.

Step 1: Getting Started:

  1. Sign in to your ChargeAutomation account

  2. Navigate to the Smartlocks section

  3. Click on Connect New Account

  4. Select your lock or access system from the list

  5. Sign in using your existing credentials for that system

That's it. Your lock system is now linked!

Step 2: Mapping (Rooms & Devices)

After connecting your account, navigate to “Organize Property Listings”, and you’ll see a list of your properties, as well as an option to map your connected devices to each property.

For each property:

  1. Using the dropdown, select the corresponding device

  2. Confirm the mapping by clicking “Save” on the right side

This linking of property <> device ensures guests only receive access to the correct device based on its property location.

Step 3: Device Management

Next, navigate to the “Manage” section, where you can:

  • View all connected devices in one place, or see each segmented by the property it is linked to

  • See the reservations and events for that particular device that’s linked to the property

  • By clicking into a specific device, you can:

    ● Check its status (for example, online or offline)
    ● Review key details like battery level and supported capabilities
    ● Confirm which unit or listing the device is mapped to

    ● Create PIN codes manually (along with the automations set-up for your
    properties)
    ● See all of the relevant events that have happened for that device

If something looks off with your device management, double-check that:
● The device is mapped to the correct unit
● The lock is online and reachable in the original lock provider app

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How long does setup take?
The process should only take ~5 minutes, depending on how many devices need mapping.

  2. Do I need to download an app or create a new account?
No. The Portal is web-based and uses a secure link. You sign in with your existing lock system credentials.

  3. What credentials should I use to connect?
Use the same username and password you normally use for your lock or access system (the provider you select in the Portal).

  4. Can I connect more than one lock brand or account?
Yes, if you manage multiple different lock brands across your properties, repeat the connection flow for each account.

  5. Why do I need to map devices?
Mapping ensures the right lock is tied to the right unit or room, so guest access is created for the correct door.

  6. What if a device is missing from the Portal?
First, confirm the device shows up in your lock provider’s app and is assigned correctly there. If you are still seeing a discrepancy after a notable amount of time, please contact the ChargeAutomation support team.

  7. What if I mapped a device to the wrong unit?
Go back to the Mapping step, use the dropdown to select the correct device and update the mapping. Be sure to click “Save” after that is completed.

  8. Is this secure?
Yes. The Portal uses a secure, hosted setup flow to connect your account and authorize access.
