Security Deposit Payment Method Required vs Reservation Payment Method Required

Understand the difference between the Security Deposit Payment Method Required and Reservation Payment Method Required notifications, and when each one is sent.

Written by Dixie

The notification depends on the booking’s payment type and on whether a security deposit, a reservation payment, or card validation is turned on.

Security Deposit Payment Method Required is sent when a payment method is still missing or is not valid, a security deposit authorization is scheduled, and one of these is true:

  • Only the security deposit is turned on for the booking

  • The booking payment type is Virtual Card or Bank Transfer, and the security deposit is turned on

  • The booking payment type is Credit Card, the reservation total is 0, and the security deposit is turned on

Reservation Payment Method Required is sent when the booking payment type is Credit Card and a payment method is still missing or needs to be updated. This is the template used when the booking includes a reservation payment or card validation.

What if a credit card has already been added?

If a valid card is already on the booking, neither notification is sent. A notification is sent again only when that card is missing or is no longer valid.
