How It Works

The Guest Screening feature leverages advanced integrations like Stripe Identity to verify guest details and ensure a frictionless process for you and your guests. Every step is designed for accuracy and efficiency, from collecting passports or IDs to enabling automated selfie collection.


Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Enhanced Guest Journey Editor

Collect Passport/ID Popup:

  • Navigate to the “Collect Passport/ID of Guest” setting.

  • Choose between:

    • Manual: Uses existing CA logic for guest verification.

    • Automatic: Stripe’s Identity service is employed to automatically pull and verify the guest’s card.

  • If you haven’t subscribed to the Guest Screening service, the system will prompt you to do so.

Automatic Selfie Collection:

  • When the “Collect Passport/ID of Guest” feature is set to automatic, the “Collect Selfie” feature will also be enabled and cannot be turned off.


2. Pre-Check-In Verification Screen

  • Access the new, streamlined Verification Screen, which replaces the separate verification and selfie portrait screens.

  • All pre-check-in verification steps are consolidated for ease of use.

3. Guest Portal Enhancements

Verification Status Display:

  • Guests can view their verification status in the Documents section of the portal.

  • If verification fails, guests can quickly resubmit their documents directly through the portal.

Real-Time Status Updates:

  • Guests and hosts can monitor verification progress in real-time, ensuring clarity and minimizing delays.


4. Booking Listings Page Updates

Verification Success Checkmark:

A verification success checkmark will now appear next to guests who have completed the verification process, providing immediate confirmation.

Common Verification Errors & Troubleshooting

If a guest encounters verification issues, they may see errors similar to the following examples from Stripe Identity:

🔴 Invalid Document
📌 Ensure the ID is placed on a flat surface in a well-lit area.
📌 The system should automatically capture the photo without manual intervention.

🔴 Unable to Verify ID
📌 Check that all details are visible and the image is in focus before submitting.
📌 Avoid glare, shadows, or blurry images.

🔴 Face Not Clearly Visible
📌 Ensure the selfie is clear and that the correct ID document is provided.
📌 The guest should not wear masks, glasses, or hats that obstruct facial recognition.

📌 If the issue persists, the guest can retake and resubmit their verification.
