Automatic Verification: ID Number Lookup

Written by Sergey Zhizhoma
Updated this week

Overview

The ID Number Lookup feature in ChargeAutomation verifies guest identity by checking their ID number against government and third-party databases.

This feature is part of the Automatic Verification flow and applies only to guests who go through that process.

How It Works

When enabled:

  1. The guest enters or submits an ID number during the verification flow

  2. The system sends the ID number to Stripe Identity / integrated providers

  3. The ID is checked against supported government or third-party databases

  4. A result is returned:

    • Valid → verification continues

    • Invalid / Not found / error → verification fails or is blocked

This process runs in real time as part of the identity verification flow.

Activation & Billing

  • ID Number Lookup is an optional paid feature

  • A $0.99 payment is required to activate it

  • Once activated:

    • The feature remains enabled

    • Users should not be charged again when toggling it on/off

If payment fails or is cancelled:

  • The feature remains disabled

Scope of Application

The feature follows the Automatic Verification scope settings:

  • Only Primary Guest → applies only to main guest

  • All Guests (Over 18) → applies to all eligible guests

If Automatic Verification is not active, this feature will not run.

Geographic Limitations

  • ID Number Lookup is currently available only for US citizens

  • Guests from unsupported countries:

    • Will not trigger this verification

    • Should be handled gracefully by the system

Configuration

On settings:

Go to Guest Journey Editor

Enable "Collect Passport/ID of Guest" and go on settings

Select "Automatic"

Then scroll down till reach

Here you can customise the request as you prefer, then check "ID Number Lookup" and choose the guest's age needed.
